Our Week at Baby Ducks

Here are a few pictures and videos of the children taken this week at Baby Ducks.

They all loved playing with the Potato Heads.

With all the hot weather the garden has needed a lot watering.

The children have really enjoyed playing hairdressers this week...

I can count to ten in Spanish ...

On Friday it was a nice day so we went to the park, something we hope to do again before the end of the term ...

We also met up with some of the other baby ducks.

Water Wall!

Next week we will be back after the Easter holidays and I hope your all having a lovely time! The children had such fun with the water at the end of last term I would like to make something a bit more exciting! The picture above gives you some idea of the kind of thing I am thinking of, but it will depend on what items I can find to make it! If you have any tubing or pipes from any plumbling or gardening projects that you dont want or any old funnels or bowls that you are thinking of throwing away then please bring them in to us and I am sure we will find a use for them that is fun for the children!

Getting Dirty!

Today the children have been having a lot of fun (even if it was a bit messy!) in the garden! They have been hard at work clearing all the weeds, putting in some new soil and planting a few nice flowers! They even found a worm" Here are some pictures of what they have been doing ...

Mud Kitchen

Last year the children really enjoyed having one of the flower beds left as just soil to play in! This year we are going to look at having a mud kitchen! If any one has any old pots, pans or utensils that they don't want any more then please bring them in.

Our Garden

As the sun has finally begun to show its face, we are beginiing to think about the children's gardens.

Last year the children really enjoyed planting, looking after and even eating the strawberries, carrots, tomatoes, etc and we would really like to do that again this year.

We are going to be getting some plants next week but if you could help us in any way with anything then this would be very much appreciated. Vegetables and fruit that the children can have for healthy snack is great but it would be also nice to have a few flowers to make it look a bit brighter!

We will of course be keeping you all up to date with your children's gardening over the coming weeks on the blog and through facebook!

Our garden

Since starting the 'team' gardens a few weeks back things have certainly started to grow.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone that brought in some plants or gardening equipment for us. The children have really enjoyed planting and watching things start to grow.

We have even had some crops, which the children have been able to eat for snack. We have had lettuce, carrots and strawberries!

Our Garden

Now that the weather is finally getting a bit brighter, we have made a start on the garden. The children have been helping us to create three new raised beds that we hope to use to grow some vegetables that the children will be able to bring home and eat at snack times.

We have also got a new water butt that the children will use to water the plants which will help them understand about recycling rain water as well as being much easier than bring water from the kitchen.

The children have been very excited about the planting we have done so far and hopefully we will have some crops before we break up for the summer.

If you have any seeds, plants, old gardening tools or anything that may be of use to the children then these would greatly received.
